Yeah, I know, that last post, about Style Press, really old. I bet you are wondering where I have been for the last six months, but rather than bore you with the gory details of my life, I think I will just get back into the thick of things and start producing some great WordPress plugins.
There have been a couple new plugins released, so let me talk about those first.
Featured Content
This one was created for a good friend of mine who wanted to be able to show a photo then let people click on it for more information. Rather than just post a photo and link to a page, I created this new plugin that creates a custom post type and includes an option to show an introduction in a modal window. Featured Content includes a sidebar widget with several options, and a shortcode so you can embed stuff into your posts and pages. See the widget in action, complete with modal windows, at HelperHealer.
Pretty Sidebar Categories
I recently grew board with the categories widget bundled in WordPress. I mean, a plain list of posts with not much more? BORING! I wanted pictures, and dates, and heck, even an excerpt here and there. Pretty Sidebar Categories took me about 3 hours to write, and the first version was released on February 9th. It supports custom templates so you can set up just about any look you want. A sample with a sidebar width image is here, and with a left floated image here. Enjoy!
Then we have some updates to older plugins including Recipe Press, Calendar Press, Better RSS Widget, and Feature Page Widget. I even set up a documentation Wiki for all my plugins so that you can help provide information to new users.
For a quick overview of all the updated plugins, check out the List of Plugins. No, they are not all there yet – it’s a work in progress, but I am getting there. Between updating my old plugins, creating new ones, begging for funding, and updating this web site, there isn’t much time for other things. That’s OK, I like to make you all happy!
